Cusco, Peru

Cusco is a city in southeastern Peru, the seventh largest in the country, with a population over 428,000. They city was the capital of the Inca empire until the 16th century. Although there are many Catholic churches, many hold strong to their Inca beliefs to this day. The conquistadores caused much destruction in this region. However, the people are servant oriented, hospitable, and open to talking about religion. A true Christ-centered church is needed in this region. Cusco is the city where many come to acclimate for a couple days before going to hike the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.

El Calafate, Argentina

El Calafate is a city in southern Patagonia, Argentina. It is the gateway city to  the smaller town of El Chalten and the region of Patagonia that opens up many backcountry trekking opportunities, including the trail to Fitz Roy. The city is high on tourism and has a population of over 22,000. El Calafate has a history of Roman Catholicism mixed with indigenous beliefs, and is in need of a Christ-centered church.

Buenos Aires, Argentina

Buenos Aires, Argentina is one of the world’s largest urban areas, with a population of 15.5 million, but the gospel has not reached the majority who live there. It also has one of the world’s largest Jewish communities that is largely unreached with the truth of Christ, the cultured upper class has been mostly closed off to the gospel, and there are over 500,000 slum dwellers, homeless and street kids.

Over half of the 1.2 million university students in Argentina reside in Buenos Aires, and there is very little witness among them. Argentina has a population of over 45 million, with less than 10 percent of the population identifying as evangelical Christians. A Christ-centered church is needed in the city, along with leadership training to ensure that the Word of God is taught accurately and new believers can be discipled to maturity in the faith.
