Missionaries, Director of Petra International Ministries (Jared Cox)
Jared Cox is the founder of Petra International Ministries. Jared is from Glendale, AZ. He received Jesus as his Lord and Savior at age seven. After losing his dad to a massive heart attack at age ten, the Lord used the tragedy and many trials to call him to be a missionary. After finishing his degree from Moody Bible Institute, he married Tanya. The theme of their wedding was Romans 10:15 (“how beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News”) as the Lord called them to be missionaries in Nicaragua. After 15 years of beginning a successful movement of church plants, a camp, a farm, and a pastoral training institute in Nicaragua that now trains leaders in four regions of the country, God called them to turn everything over to the national leaders because they were ready to take full leadership and He brought their family back to the States. In 2017, Jared founded Petra International Ministries to continue to train and disciple national leaders in Latin America and also began praying about planting Petra Bible Church, Bozeman that started in 2018. The years overseas prepared Jared to boldly preach the gospel in the U.S., getting beneath the cultural idols that are largely ignored or excused in religious culture (and which lead people down dangerous paths of false security and presumption), to where they can truly receive Christ and walk in His freedom. Jared finished his M. Div. from Western Seminary in 2018 and also founded Petra Wilderness International in 2019. Jared and Tanya have four kids: Josiah (23), Isaiah (21), Gaby (19), and Jeremiah (17). Each of their children are preparing to serve the Lord full time in ministry.
